• Our first stop is for lunch at the lovely Jajome Terrace Restaurant overlooking the mountain ridges with views all the way to the Caribbean Sea. Jajome Terrace is renowned for its wonderful food; order a la carte.

• After our refreshing cool mountain top lunch we head back down the mountain on a small scenic windy road, past the Governors' summer home. Our next destination is the south coast town of Guayama where we stop on the central plaza and visit Casa Cautino, a lovely perfectly restored, mansion of the 1700's. Pleasant plaza with a fountain and a beautiful church with an unusual stained glass window.

• We then drive east along the scenic south coast ( dramatic ocean views) to the little town of Maunabos' Famous Punta Tuna lighthouse, walk the beaches on either or both sides of the lighthouse. Great photos here! The ocean is dramaticlly rough here, no safe swimming.

Just West of the lighthouse is this little fishing 'port' between the two big beaches in Maunabo.

• Heading back towards San Juan we stop for a snack along the side of the road before getting on the superhighway back to San Juan. Our arrival back in San Juan varies with the length of the stops we make. We are not in a hurry!

Your guides will fill you with local knowleddge of Puerto Rico's rich and diverse history. In Casa Cautino we will see photos of the original 'Dulce Sueno' the world's first Paso Fino horse. Casa Cautino still has the original French style furniture that was crafted in Guayama by local craftsmen.

The cost of this trip is reasonable when you consider the length and distance we travel and the amazing insight into what Puerto Rico is really like, 'the Real Puerto Rico', outside San Juan. Travel with a small party, maximum 7 people! Larger groups could be accommodated with prior arrangments, quote upon request.

OVERNIGHT OPTION:

Get dropped off at Palmas del Mar's' 'Four Points by Sheraton Hotel' for the night and proceed to San Juan the next day ( additional transportation fee is $80. to the airport or $100. to a San Juan hotel for up to 4 persons. Hotel rates start at about $200. for a double room including tax.

*CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS:

Arrive in San Juan two nights early or leave 2 nights after your cruise ends. See a great variety of Puerto Rico's spectacular scenic countryside! Spend your first night in historic Old San Juan and depart early morning on our tour, one night in Palmas del Mar and then visit the El Yunque rainforest and return to San Juan and the airport the next morning.
