MOONLIGHT AND THE BIOBAY COMPETE!
IF THERE IS A MOON UP IN THE SKY IT IS HARD TO SEE THE BIOLUMINESCENCE.. SEE MOON CALENDAR BELOW.
If you want the best possible viewing conditions for a biobay visit then plan your trip when there is NO VISIBLE MOON in the sky. Plan ahead!
The best of the Vieques kayak trips start at 4 pm, visit the mangroves, beach and then the biobay after dark! There are many biobay tour operators.
FULL MOON AND MARS: Friday night's full Moon is the biggest and brightest full Moon of the year. It's a "perigee Moon," as much as 14% wider and 30% brighter than other full Moons you'll see later in 2010. But that's not all. Mars is having a close encounter with Earth, and on Friday night, Jan. 29th, it will join the Moon for an all-night-long conjunction. Don't miss it! Sky maps and images may be found at http://spaceweather.com.

Living with a Star
What if you woke up one morning and found your whole planet had been swallowed by the atmosphere of a star?
Get out of bed, look out the window. Auroras are dancing along the horizon. Dark sunspots crackle overhead—each little 'pop' more powerful than a nuclear bomb. On TV, a weather forecaster warns astronauts, "a solar flare is sure to erupt," although he can't say exactly when. Moments later, the satellite signal begins to flicker.
