Viewing the bioluminesence is impaired by moonlight! BUT, it is always beautiful in a kayak out on the biobay, moon or not!
Risks: West Nile Virus and Dengue exists in the mosquito population. You should always protect yourself from mosquito bites. There is a safe alternative bug repellant that does NOT contain DEET. You should find it and use it!
However the mangrove mosquito is not a carrier of either disease; it is the day biting mosquito, aedes egyptii that caries these viruses, more likely found in a populated area.

PLEASE NOTE:There are about 6 nights each month BEFORE the full moon when visibility is impared because the moon gets brighter in the sky during the early evening. Those are the nights to avoid if possible. SO, where you see the moon pictured, bioluminescent visibility will be impaired, in relation to the size of the moon shown in the charts below. If you don't see the moon in this chart that means there will be no moon in the sky just after sunset.....
